NextGen Mentorship Program

Explore NextGen Mentorship Program! A new mentorship program which is part of CPS’ commitment to investing in an equity based initiative to offer representation and career pathways to employees who are self-managers across the district’s Central and Network Offices. The NextGen Mentorship Program is a structured skill-building opportunity to access development in an experiential way based on their professional goals and the mentors’ strengths.

Program Overview:
Spring 2024
Mentees to be matched with Mentors based on focus areas and learning preferences.

  • Mentees will choose a skill-set of focus related to RISE Manager of Self competencies
  • Mentees will be matched with Mentor(s) that excels in chosen skill-set
  • Mentors undergo mentorship training

June – December 2024
Three hours every month mentees and mentors undergo structured activities by way of:

  • Shadowing
  • Problems of Practice
  • Role play
  • Connecting with Mentor network

January 2025
Award Banquet

  • Mentor and Mentees will be celebrated and given Lead with CPS award by CEO Pedro Martinez

How to Apply

  • Complete application by March 25
  • Receive notice of your selection by April 2024
  • If you are selected you and your leader will be asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to participate in the program
EligibilityMENTEE ELIGIBILITY: Staff who are managers of self and don’t have any record of professional misconduct. Priority will be given to applicants who have received exemplary in one area of their most recent RISE evaluation. Mentors will be nominated and details forthcoming.

DURATION7 months
TIME COMMITMENTEngage in mentorship orientation session. Collaborate for three hours monthly for seven months. Submit monthly reflections on progress and act as a Lead with CPS ambassador.
