The Executive Principal Program is a unique growth opportunity designed to develop, retain and celebrate our city’s principals by facilitating a close partnership between two school leaders. As part of the program, Executive Principals will be intentionally matched with Partner Principals to deliver thought partnership and guidance around a focused set of practice or competency areas.

Eligibility: Five years of CPS Principal experience with strong school/Principal performance; prior experience mentoring other Principals.

Competency Alignment

Influences others to positive action: Executive Principals work closely to strengthen the pre-identified development areas of their Partner Principal. They leverage years of in-role experience and perspective to accelerate the growth of their Partner Principal.

Strategizes and drives for results to maximize impact: Executive Principals and Partner Principals collaboratively identify personal leadership development and school outcome goals. Executive Principals will often help Partner Principals adapt proven best practices to their school context in order to meet these goals.

Fosters trusting relationships to enable productive change: Executive Principals cultivate their relationship with the Partner Principal and their school team. They also engage directly with the Network Chief of the Partner Principal to ensure overall alignment and synergy in work.
