Arts Instruction Specialist

The Department of Arts Education has made it a strategic priority to increase peer-to-peer learning by involving the district’s exemplary music, visual arts, theatre, or dance teachers in the development of quality instructional supports. Arts Instruction Specialists (AIS) are outstanding CPS arts teachers with expert-level disciplinary knowledge and instructional skill. AIS’s collaborate with the Department of Arts Education to develop instructional supports, including curricular resources and professional learning. Each AIS serves as an invaluable source of support and information for Arts teachers across the district. AIS’s represent five disciplines (visual art, music, dance, theater, media arts) across two grade bands (PreK-8 and 9-12). Strong candidates have in-depth knowledge of Illinois Arts Learning Standards.
