The Vanderbilt Assessment of Leadership in Education (Val-Ed) is a research-based, 360-degree leadership diagnostic tool. Val-Ed focuses on gathering evidence of leadership competencies and behaviors that are specific to the role of a school principal.
Eligibility: Current Chicago district or charter assistant principal considering principalship who would like to learn more about their leadership abilities and develop and track a plan to strengthen leadership skills

Chicago Leadership Collaborative: Resident Principal

The Chicago Leadership Collaborative is a unique partnership between Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and leading principal development programs to provide a rigorous, residency-based preparation experience for aspiring school leaders.
Eligibility: Minimum of four years of teaching experience, Flexibility and willingness to change school sites, An active Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License or Educator License with Stipulations

Leadership Bridge

The Leadership Bridge Program is for up to 25 assistant principal and principal pairs. As part of this program, APs will receive individualized leadership coaching from an external partner in close collaboration with their principal.
Eligibility: Current district or charter assistant principal who is interested in becoming a principal and has been identified as a potential internal successor in their building, Member of the CPS Principal Candidate Pool (“Eligible”) or plans to go through the process in 2022-23
