APs Rising is a suite of targeted development opportunities that are designed to support our talented pool of assistant principals. It includes an Aspiring Principal Professional Learning Community (PLC) for current assistant principals who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the skills needed to take on a principal position. The PLC will be led by an experienced CPS principal.
Eligibility: Current Assistant Principals who are interested in becoming a CPS Principal.

APs Rising: Leadership Bridge Program

APs Rising is a suite of targeted development opportunities that are designed to support our talented pool of assistant principals. It includes a Leadership Bridge Program for up to 25 assistant principal and principal pairs. As part of this program, APs will receive individualized leadership coaching from an external partner in close collaboration with their principal.
Eligibility: Current assistant principals who are interested in becoming principals; priority is given to APs considered to be internal successors in their buildings. District assistant principals should have earned CPS principal eligibility or plan to go through the process in 2021-22.

The Vanderbilt Assessment of Leadership in Education (Val-Ed) is a research-based, 360-degree leadership diagnostic tool. Val-Ed focuses on gathering evidence of leadership competencies and behaviors that are specific to the role of a school principal.
