APs Rising: AP Resident Principal Program

APs Rising is a suite of targeted development opportunities that are designed to support our talented pool of assistant principals. It includes an Aspiring Principal Professional Learning Community (PLC) for current assistant principals who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the skills needed to take on a principal position. The PLC will be led by an experienced CPS principal.

APs Rising is a suite of targeted development opportunities that are designed to support our talented pool of assistant principals. It includes a Leadership Bridge Program for up to 25 assistant principal and principal pairs. As part of this program, APs will receive individualized leadership coaching from an external partner in close collaboration with their principal.
Eligibility: Current Assistant Principals who are interested in becoming a Principal and have been identified as a potential internal successor in their building. District Assistant Principals should have earned CPS Principal eligibility or plan to go through the process in 2020-21.

CPS Teacher Residency Program

Eligibility: Candidates cannot currently hold any Illinois state issued teaching license (excluding paraprofessional or substitute teaching licenses), must have an Associate's degree OR 42 college credit hours from a regionally accredited institution, and at least a 2.7 GPA (2.5 admissions on a conditional basis with extensive candidate review).

Future Chiefs Program provides talented, diverse leaders with the experiences and preparation needed to become savvy, strong district and state chiefs. Cohort members will shadow current Chiefs for Change members and receive the coaching, mentorship, and other learning opportunities to develop the next generation of education leaders.
Eligibility: Seven years work experience, desire to run for elected office, advanced degree, nomination from elected official, two letters of recommendation, and employer letter of support.
